A mobile home situated in a holiday park is a fantastic resource, and has many advantages over the holiday house.

Caravan parks are great places for you and your children to make friends. With so many people around it is a very safe environment as the residents look out for each other. People tell me all the time about not seeing their children from one end of the day to the other except to get something to eat.

A mobile home can be cleaned and tided in minutes, plus in a holiday park the grass is generally cut by the owners.

With a house it is a lot harder to make friends, and they require a lot more worry, attention, and work.

Mobiles homes also require a lot less money than with a house. It is closer to the car market in that you will usually want to update it after a few years. Some parks have a 10 year policy where you have to change your mobile home after that period. It would be worth your while to see what kind of deal you can do after 5 years when your trade-in is still very saleable to other parks rather than wait until the 10 years are up and your options are limited.

The advantages compared to foreign holidays are also quite substantial. Unlike your foreign holiday where your vacation is gone after a week or two, your mobile home is there for your weekends, your annual holidays, and all the bank holidays. You will also have something to sell if things go wrong. You don’t have to worry about the food, the beer, or the language.

You are not guaranteed sunshine however! But in the sunny south-east you won’t go far wrong.

A lot of people now retire early, and a mobile home on a holiday park is an excellent way to start this new life. Buy one with central heating and double glazing, and you will be quite comfortable there all season. It will be easy to make new friends, take up new hobbies, or indulge in some of your present ones. Your children and grand-children can also spend time there. Many young people have huge mortgages and can’t afford to get away, so you can do them a big favour that will also allow you to spend more time with your grandchildren.

Don’t buy a mobile and then then look for a site. Generally you will have to go through a dealer to get a site.

If you think the south-east region would suit you give us a ring, we deal with the following parks on a regular basis. If you are going on a park not included in this list we would give you an extra discount if you are one of the first people to deal with us from that site. Give us a call to get a good deal.

If you already have a mobile home on a holiday park
If you are looking to change your model then you will probably know what you want. We have a large selection of new and second hand mobiles for you to choose from.

One thing to look out for is disparity in pricing for similar models among different dealers. Some will give you a lot more on your trade-in, but if you compare the prices on the websites you may be surprised to find the recommended price of one may be a lot different to the recommended price from another manufacturer for what you think is a similar model. We have compiled a list showing the models which should be similarly priced from different dealers.

A lot of parks now have an age policy for the mobile homes, and this ensures that the mobile home is always worth more than the site fee. It costs over €1,000 now to scrap a mobile home, so a park owner can be faced with that loss as well as the site fee for the year if the mobile home is not up to a good standard, and someone decides to leave in the middle of the season. An age policy also helps the appearance of the park, and helps to attract good customers when someone leaves.

If your park has - for example - a 12 year policy, it might be worth your while to investigate the cost of changing model after 5 or 6 years when you can still expect a good price for your present mobile home. If you wait 12 years your mobile home will offer little or no bargaining power.
